Ultimate peanut butter jelly overnight oats Ingredients and recipe card
Ready to make them? Here’s everything you need:
Oats Base Ingredients
- 3Bears Wild Bowls Porridge Nutty Cocoa: 100g
- Oat Drink (or milk): 200ml - check out our best milk for overnight oats guide for other variations
- 3Bears Peanut Butter (smooth or crunchy): 30g
Raspberry Chia "Jelly" Layer Ingredients
- Raspberries (fresh or frozen): 200g - we think frozen works especially well for this recipe
- Oat Drink (or milk): 100ml
- Chia Seeds: 30g
- Agave Nectar or Date Syrup: 2 tsp
Decoration & Toppings: an extra dollop of Peanut Butter, 2 tsp chopped unsalted peanuts, 1 handful fresh raspberries.
Step-by-Step preparation (Ready in 5 minutes)
Part 1: The Overnight Prep (5 Minutes)
- Prep the Oats: Thoroughly mix the 3Bears Porridge Nutty Cocoa, 200ml oat drink, and 30g peanut butter together and then put in a jar. Seal.
- Prep the Jelly: Next up, blend the 200g raspberries and 100ml oat drink until smooth. Then, pour this into a container before adding the chia seeds and the agave / date syrup.
- Chill out: Store both the oats base and the raspberry-chia mix separately in the refrigerator overnight to soak and thicken.
Founder Tim’s top tip - I sometimes leave out the syrup and instead focus on the sweetness from the raspberries. Also, adding a sweet topping, like some slices of banana, can help achieve sweetness if you don’t fancy adding syrup to the jam.
Part 2: The Morning Layering (2 Minutes)
Layering is what really helps this recipe stand out from the rest, ensuring every spoonful gets a little bit of every part. It’s incredibly simple, so it’s worth taking the time to do it properly.
- First Layer: In your serving glass, or container, spoon in half of the chilled Overnight Oats base.
- Jelly Layer: Then spoon half of the thick raspberry-chia mix over the oats layer
- Peanut Butter Swirl: Gently drop 1 teaspoon of peanut butter onto the raspberry layer
- Repeat: Repeat the layering process with the remaining oats, jelly mix, and peanut butter.
- Finish: Once you’re near the top, leave some room for the toppings! If you’re eating immediately, top with fresh fruit, and garnish with some chopped unsalted peanuts.
- Enjoy - need we say more?
How do I make my Peanut Butter Overnight Oats higher in protein?
If you’re looking for a protein boost, try mixing a scoop of flavourless protein powder in, or use full-fat cow’s milk. Remember, the type of milk you use can affect how long your overnight oats will last (link), so take that into account if you’re making a batch. For a quicker protein win, dollop some crunchy peanut butter on top, along with some extra chia seeds.
Can I use a different type of 3Bears Porridge?
Yes, of course! If you’d prefer, you can swap out our Nutty Cocoa with our Plain Goodness porridge. It’ll work just as well, but won’t have that chocolate deepness of flavour.
