John top 5

3Bears' favorite flavor: Poppy banana, great with a bit of cinnamon. I'm a poppy fan.

Favorite fairy tale: Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. The fairy tale has a great message, namely that charity is extremely important.

Life wisdom: Do what you want, but not because you have to! (Buddha) One should realize oneself and do things on one's own initiative, not because one has to do them.

Biggest challenge: It's not always easy to balance exercise with a relationship and work. From a sporting perspective, the Transalpine Run was my biggest challenge (8 stages across the Alps, 50km per day). Nonetheless, I plan to attend again in September this year. I see the run as a nice challenge. Success motivates you and you get to know lots of likeable people.

I can't live without... my wife and my sport. My wife is the most important part of my life and my rock. Without sport I would miss what makes me who I am.

3Bears meets Johannes from Bergfreunde.de

1. Why did you choose a career in sports and what do you enjoy most about it?

I originally studied geography. Through my frequent orders from Bergfreunde.de, I came across the job advertisement and applied. That's how I ended up in the outdoor industry and basically turned my hobby into a career. I buy all the things that I need for sport and use every day. This gives me a lot of fun.

I've been running very ambitiously for five years now, especially on ultra trails. I used to play volleyball and after a while I developed more into an individual and endurance athlete. After the first competitions, the next challenge was the Transalpine Run, a 270km long run over seven stages across the Alps. The flair of trail running captivated me.

2. Tell us about your daily routine. How do you like to start your day?

There is actually no typical routine for me. It always depends on my training every day. I usually get up at six, go to the office and have breakfast there. After lunch and another work session, we head to the Swabian Alb in the afternoon for a wonderful run. However, I prefer to start my day with a run and then a delicious breakfast.

3. Since we're on the topic - your just-right breakfast. Where, when, how?

For me there are two delicious breakfast dishes. On the one hand, four toasts with honey and tea after running, on the other hand, a mixture with cereal muesli. I especially like cinnamon, chili, chia seeds, honey, ground almonds and apple or banana as toppings. Of course, I particularly enjoy eating 3Bears Porridge because it is totally filling, contains lots of nutritional values and is a flexible breakfast. So you can choose any type of toppings you feel like.

I prefer to have breakfast comfortably at work or, even better, on the balcony at home in the morning sun.

4. How important is a healthy lifestyle to you? What does that mean for you specifically?

Since I run around 120km a week, a healthy lifestyle is essential for me. The body needs to be well nourished, but it is important to be able to treat yourself sometimes. For me, a healthy and balanced diet is part of it, as is getting enough sleep.

5. Where do you get your daily energy from?

Definitely through sport. I notice how much more effective I am when, for example, I have already gone for a run during my lunch break. I always have a lot of motivation, which gives me an incredible amount of strength and energy.

6. How do you create the right balance between work and private life?

On the one hand, I live from sport and valuable time in nature, which gives me the perfect change from all the thinking work on the computer. I can switch off completely here and also have a lot of motivation and ambition to work towards competitions and marathons. At the same time, I also really enjoy my work and it gives me a lot of joy.

7. What do you find particularly fabulous about 3Bears Porridge?

Your porridge is great and easy to prepare, combines well and tastes really good. Above all, it provides the necessary energy for the day and is therefore the perfect breakfast for athletes!
